About Us

Ten Million Empty Car Seats On British Roads Every Day

In Britain there are twenty four million cars. This is ten times as many as in the 1950s. The roads are becoming more congested every year, in spite of government targets.

We created this website because we wanted a convenient travel option that would save people money and reduce road congestion at the same time. With the increase in the price of oil and worries about fossil fuels running out in the near future, the logical solution is for people to share more of their car journeys with other people heading the same way.

Notice that during the rush hour many people are commuting long distances alone, with four spare seats in their cars. If they each shared with three other people, that would potentially be three cars off the roads and a fair amount of petrol money in the driver's pocket (up to 10p per mile per person). If more people offered their car journeys and shared costs, we all would benefit. Also, it's more fun to travel with other people than to drive for miles on your lonesome!

If you have any comments or suggestions about the site, or if you have any interesting stories to share with us about your journeys, please write to the team at contact@catcharide.co.uk

Looking forward to your news

Happy travels!
